Ministry & Service
'...But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.' --Joshua 24:15
Nursery
There's nothing sweeter than nurturing a baby - a true miracle of God in your arms. Share a Sunday serving in the nursery so Moms and Dads of these precious ones can fully experience the message during worship service. Usually we have enough volunteers that you only serve about one Sunday each quarter. To volunteer in the nursery please email Kelly.
On most Wednesday evenings during the school year we provide you with an opportunity to fellowship around the table before our scheduled activities begin. We start serving dinner at 5:30pm and activities begin at 6:30pm. If you would like to join us for dinner we just ask that you make a reservation.
We are in the process of organizing a comprehensive Women's Ministry. You can check out our progress by visiting the Women's Ministry Page.
Homebound Ministry
This is a team of men, women and youth who are passionate bout serving the homebound members of Villa Heights and are ensuring that though they may not be with us, they are not forgotten. If you share a similar passion this team would welcome you to join them as they care for those who can no longer be physically with us. Contact Matt Hoyle to learn more about this ministry.
Acts 1:8 NIV… But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth... Have any of the ministries of Villa Heights touched your life in a meaningful way? Now is your chance to make a difference in someone else’s life. Would you like to share with others what God is doing in your life and at VHBC? Are you willing to give one Monday evening per month to visit with and minister to others? Come join G.R.O.W. (God Rewards Our Work). Our desire is to be a church that both reaches out to our community as well as reaches in to care for her members and their families. Anyone can participate (and all are encouraged!). If you have not yet become involved, just come on the second Monday night of each month at 6:45 to do your part to help make a difference. That’s right, this ministry only requires one evening a month of your time! Come help our church GROW!!!
Men's Tuesday Morning Prayer Breakfast
Each Tuesday men of Villa Heights gather at Famous Anthony's on Route 460 to fellowship over breakfast. A time for devotion and prayer are planned for each Tuesday. We pray for each person on our prayer list, and sign letters to be sent to those on our prayer list that we've prayed for that morning. All men are welcome - come join us!
People of all ages, from young children through senior adults, are encouraged to participate in choral and (as God provides!) instrumental groups. Whether it is young boys and girls learning about their place in God's world, or youth and adults serving as worship leaders, there is an opportunity for all through the music ministry. Using skits, plays, musicals and other drama sources, we will present the gospel in a variety of ways to hone people's relationship with God. Recently we have shared "Experiencing God, the Musical" and "Jesus, Wonderful Treasure" to help people have a greater understanding about the relationship that He wants for us through Jesus.
Our Men's Group is up and rolling... We meet each Wednesday evening at 6:30pm for a Bible study and then every so often we have a service project. This past February we cut the brush on the hill that faces Orange Avenue, we have also helped our Senior adults in some projects around their homes and do our best to take on church projects that we can handle. But its not all about work, we plan some fun stuff too, In May 2010 we went to a Salem Red Sox game to get to know each other and do something guys enjoy... who doesn't like a good baseball game, or at least a hot dog? One of the men described it this way, "We need to pray together, laugh together and sweat together and will probably even laugh at each other... more than we should!" Each time we gather we will have a time of prayer and Bible study. Our special events are not on a regular schedule so keep an eye on the bulletins and on the calendar page and come join us! If you have questions, contact Willie Klepper.
Life is For Living
Although this group consists mainly of Senior Adults, it is open to any and all... there are no age requirements and all are welcome to attend any of the planned events. Most events are daytime events and are centered around getting together and having fun and fellowship as we travel around to local sights and restaurants and we do our best to meet once a month. For example, in May 2010 we visited Monticello in Charlottesville. When we do not travel we will usually meet at the church for a pot luck lunch. Keep an eye on our bulletin board and the calendar for upcoming events.
