We left our church of over 30 years because we did not feel we were spiritually growing anymore. So our family of 4 (including 2 teenage daughters), started visiting different churches in the area but we didn’t feel a connection at any of those. We were invited (by a Villa Heights member) to visit the church one Sunday….so we came for Sunday School & church.
We continued coming back week after week.We thoroughly enjoyed Pastor Jake's messages & the way he presented them. Again having 2 daughters, the youth program was a very important part of our decision. We wanted them to feel comfortable but yet be involved in a growing youth group & church. We also wanted to be part of a church that offered Sunday School classes. Villa Heights has a great variety for everyone. We immediately connected with folks in a class and could not be happier. We felt very welcome here. Our family prayed for months over the decision to join a new church and we feel 100% that God lead us to Villa Heights.
We look forward to Sundays & Wednesday nights now. God has blessed us and we want to continue to grow spiritually as individuals & as a family. We look forward to serving, spreading the word & becoming more involved members of Villa Heights Baptist Church.
We joined Villa Heights Baptist Church in November 2005. We were looking for a church family that was welcoming and that taught the word of God. We found both in Villa Heights. We know that every time we step through the doors that our children are being fed spiritually in both the children and youth departments. We are very active in many adult ministries, lead the youth ministry teams and teach Sunday School for the middle-school youth. The relationships we have formed here, and the gospel presentation is what keep us coming back. We love our church family!
Shelia and I came to Villa Heights in 2008 during a time when we were searching for a church home. We had visited quite a few churches in the area and, frankly, we were not expecting much when we came to Villa Heights; basically it was just another church to check off of our list. I'll never forget walking out after that first Sunday sermon and thinking, “Wow, that was a surprise.” The message that Pastor Jake delivered on that Sunday was a big part of it; just some good old-fashioned, down-to-earth, straight-forward Bible preaching. It was quite a change from what we had become accustomed to in our former church, but that's another story for another time. To say that we were warmly-greeted would be an under-statement but the warmth went beyond Donna's greeting at the door; many people made us feel welcome and eager to come back. From that first Sunday we really had no doubt that the Lord had led us to Villa Heights. Just a few Sundays later Shelia was out of town but I was able to participate in the church's 85th Anniversary, how amazing it was to see how many of the members had been in the church from the very beginning and many others almost as long. It's hard to believe that it's been almost 6 years since that first visit but this is home now and it is our sincere desire that the Lord will allow us to spend the rest of our lives as members of this wonderful fellowship.
